Enhanced accessibility with a Totara LMS

Accessibility at Totara and WCAG compliance.
Digital accessibility compliance is crucial to ensure that everyone can access and engage in online learning.

Accessibility at Totara

Offering an inclusive platform for learning, performance and engagement is essential for organisations to provide development opportunities for people who have an impairment, disability and/or the need for assistive technologies.

Totara is committed to developing products that meet international web accessibility guidelines and reporting this compliance openly as well as ensuring that accessibility and inclusion is a part of our solution, design and development processes. They continuously evaluate their product against guidelines and make necessary improvements to make our products accessible. This process includes using industry-standard tools to test accessibility during and after development, with the aim of achieving WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. Beyond meeting compliance, we also continuously aim to improve the user experience for users with impairments, disabilities and/or using assistive technologies.

Accessibility Conformance Reports

With every major release we provide an Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) based on the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT). This is a report which outlines our understanding of each success criterion for WCAG guideline standards A and AA, details the areas where we support the various criteria, as well as outlining the evaluation methods used.

Here is Totara’s lastest ACR report relating to their version 19 product release.

Accessibility WCAG compliance to engage and include all.

Digital accessibility compliance is important for all websites but crucial within online learning. By adhering to accessibility standards, we create inclusive environments that allows individuals with diverse abilities to participate fully in educational opportunities and access valuable resources. Ensuring that digital content is accessible not only broadens the audience but also enhances the overall user experience.

Cortexa utilises the UserWay technology to offer LMS customers the opportunity to enhance their accessibility compliance and make their eLearning available for people with disaability across the widest spectrum. All the functionality is discreetly provided via a widget which provides instant cusomisations based on the user selected settings.

Digital Access is a Human Right

The Userway widget options panel lower barriers of entry to online learning and reduces the friction encountered by people with disabilities who would otherwise struggle or as worse be excluded.
